What is a Rotarian?

Rotary is 1.2 million passionate individuals in 35,000+ clubs worldwide. We are both an international organization and a local community leader.
Together we lead change in our own backyards and across the world.

The secret of Rotary’s success is a membership which represents a good cross section of a community’s business leaders, whose experience, expertise, and resources can be harnessed for the good of the community. Members are to be adult persons of good character and good business and professional reputation who are engaged as proprietor, partner, corporate officer, or manager of any worthy and recognized business or profession; or holding an important position in any worthy and recognized business or profession or any branch or agency thereof, and having executive capacity with discretionary authority.

How Membership Works

Membership in a Rotary club is by invitation only.  The process for joining our club involves visiting our club by attending several meetings where you will experience what our meetings are like and meet a number of the members of our club.  The membership chair will meet with you to discuss different aspects of the club including what we expect of our members with respect to meeting attendance, your time commitment, participation in club projects and activities, the costs of being a Rotarian, and the benefits of membership.  We want to make sure that you are a good fit for our club and that our club is a good fit for you.  Next comes the completion of a simple application form for membership.  Applications are reviewed by the Membership Committee Chair and our board of directors.  The members of the club are then notified of your application.  Applicants may then be inducted after payment of fees and dues.  If it should happen that our club does not work for you, but you are still interested in Rotary, we can connect you with another local Rotary club that hopefully will be a better fit for you.

Please contact Jim West at westsnwest@comcast.net if you have questions about membership in Rotary.
